Recently for a project in one of my classes, I gave a presentation on my neighborhood ["neighbourhood" if you want to get all British-technical on me] of West Kensington through patterns, textures and common images that are prevalent throughout the area that I live in.

I'm going to give you the abbreviated version of the presentation with the added benefit of not having to hear me talk awkwardly about them in front of a projection screen.. Yeah. I bet you're jealous of everyone that got to see me do that.. (For anyone who was in Mr. Howard's 9th grade English class, I can assure you that I've come along way from speeches entitled "Corn Gives Us Gas" and everyone's favorite gem "How to Play DDR" in which I was 'humping air' during my demonstration..)

I apologize if I'm acting (typing??) a bit loopy, I just ate half of a rotisserie chicken and am in a bit of a delicious meat food coma. Anyways, without further adieu, let me introduce you to the lovely "hood" of West Ken! :)

Overall, West Kensington is a great place to live.. it's filled with mostly younger families and professionals and is a pretty quiet place once you step off of the main drag where the A4 motorway is. There's tons of small shops, restaurants, businesses and amazing Thai and Indian food places scattered around. Sandwiched between Kensington, Fulham, Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush, it's a pretty convenient place to be located (only a 20 min. walk to class! not that I ever walk.. heheh) and our flat is located a short walk between two tube stops, which is great. It's a nice way to be close to the center of the city without feeling like you're in the middle of a bazillion tourists.

I promised to post photos of my new flat, so.. I'm posting some photos of my new flat! It's nice and I like it a lot, although it's a bit dusty and dirty and I keep finding foreign [literally] hairs, so that a little disconcerting. Other than that, everything seems to be in working order so far, other than the fridge which we did a little defrosting of. We bought new bedding, towels, etc. at Primark, store of the low-priced Gods and the hot foreign cousin of Wal-mart. It's nice to have a place of my own, although my bed is in the living room/dining room so I feel like I'm living in a studio apartment of sorts. Alright, enough of my typing; here are the photos!

 I'll post these as if you were taking a cute little walk down the street and into my apartment. Though, I don't want to post my street/address just in case there are any creepers that may stumble upon this blog and wish to murder me or something terrifying like that.. Safety first!

Now picture pushing open a rather heavy front door, walking up a few flights of narrow stairs with one weird sharp turn and you push open the door...

There's also a dining room in there too, as well as a great collection of VHS tapes, of which I will start my bi-weekly series of: Outdated VHS Movie of the Bi-Week. Be on the lookout for the first installment.. it won't disappoint. Moving on, here's a peek into the kitchen, which is still in the process of being cleaned/disinfected..

There's also two rooms, one down some stairs [Maddi's room] and one off the entry hallway [Abby & Melissa's]. Overall, it's been good, but I haven't technically spent a night in it yet, so I'll let you know in a few weeks how that is..
